I bought a 1977 Corvette 2 years ago in the US and imported it to Germany (good that stuff like that is my job).
It is a matching numbers 5,7L Small Block V8, with a completely original drivetrain. It is very easy to work on it because all parts are very large and easy to handle, as there is lots of space in the engine compartment.

It was in okayish condition when I bought it, but the chassis was starting to corrode. We got rid of those problems easy, it now has a very nice coating to prevent any dampness.

It is still a work in progress though, when you fix one thing, something else decides to give up.

Against the popular belief that all US-Muscle and Sportscars only drive a straight line and are unable to maneuver sharp turns, the Corvette is a completely different breed and was quite advanced for that time.
All wheels have independent suspension and it has only one leaf spring across the rear suspension for support. All 4 wheels come with disc brakes from the factory. The air intake of the carburetor has its own duct so it doesnt suck in the warm air from the engine compartment.

It is an absolute blast to drive and doesnt need a whole lot of knowledge to keep on the road safely.

Here some specs:
1977 Corvette early production
complete GFK-body
5,7L Naturally aspirated V8
GM performance carburetor
3 Speed Torqueflight Automatic Transmission
245 tires front
265 tires rear
Original air conditioning
Original power steering
Original electric windows
Original radio and speakers
Targa roof (you can take out the roof in two parts and put it behind the seats)
Power: around 240-260 hp, some days mor some days less
0-100: no clue, maybe sth like 7 seconds, the gearbox is very slow compared to modern ones obviously
Top Speed: 220 km/h, but you dont wanna do that
Fuel consumption: Around 23l/ 100km if you drive carefully, if you floor the gas a lot you are easily up to 30liters
mileage: 40.000 miles

Some things on my list to get done:
Rebuilt of the rear suspension (will be done next month)
New wiring, the old one gets bad (sometimes the front lights dont turn on anymore)
Side exhausts so i dont have to listen to the person next to me if i go faster than 70kph
new paint (the old one has some cracks due to age, will be the same color though)

And sorry for bat formatting, i cannot figure out how to insert more pictures and hot put them in so you dont have to scroll :-( (PC-noob surpreme)

Very nice car, I guess the import was more than worth it.

I miss GTO and his mods

Absolutely, it is so much fun to drive and it was one of my favourite cars in my childhood because of the very unique shape.
Like a dream come true. Except if you have to get petrol. :D
