veitz, give it a go, its all about the game mechanics and they are awesome. Interestingly this is one game where you can actually have a rewarding multiplayer 'hotseat' (on one pc) session. Actually, thats prolly the best way to multiplayer it. Released in 1999 and still love the decisions it makes you take playing, always making chess-style calculations and thinking a couple of moves ahead.
PS HD mod available too ;)

Yay, my kind of topic.

First and foremost - Fallot and Fallout 2.
Besterest gaims eva made.
FO2 with "Unoficial patch" is even more godlike.

After that, Jagged Alliance 2, also with community made patches (1.13) and addons.
Veri stronk game.

And ofc, best CIV ever made - CIV3.
Modern armor/mech infantry stacks spam ftw :SOA:

As for HoMM 3 - I have spent countless hours on "lets play" pro gamerer parties with that game.
Pizza, beer and all night 6-players-rounds of HoMM 3 on 1 PC :P :deadseal:

AoE2 one of the most epic LAN games, we'll probably end playing alot of that again at our annual Easter LAN with Tbone. Good times O:)

Veiti, like the man said give it a go. I luv it > playing hotseat with my brother from time to time. Best of the series by far!

Chillius do you know those random seed codes for hardcore map generation by any chance? They are supposed to set VERY powerful neutral monster parties all over the map... or at least that's how I remember it :) .

Besterest oldie goldies I have and still occasionally play:
Fallout 2, FF VII, HoMM 3, Dawn of War, Red Alert 2 (dem prism tenks o.O), all Gran Turismo games, Onimusha (all of them), DMC 1, 2 and 3, Sins of a Solar Empire, Eve Online (might compete in next alliance tournament :D) and probably a lot of others that I forgot to list.

Why play Homm3?
The new titles in the series are quite good actually and more fun than the old ones since they dont look like crap.
Also best CIV ever made is 5 with Exapansions :(. Couldnt go back to Civ3 allthough it was the best one by release.

Goldies are:
Fallout 1+2
JA 2 (no worthy remake so far which is quite strange)
Lucas Arts Point and Click Adventures (Monkey Island, Grim Fandango; still have to play The Dig, Day of Tentacle + some others)
Star Wars Jedi Knight + Knights of the old Republic allready count?
